• Or over 45 & Black

You can book an appointment.

Find out more: gmcancer.org.uk/this-van-can

• 21 Oct – Wigan Tesco Extra
• 23 Oct – Leigh Sports Village
• 24 Oct – Tesco, Leigh
• 28 Oct – Tesco, Leigh

If you are worried about your risk of prostate cancer but don’t meet the This Van Can criteria, please contact your GP to further discuss.

When they check your 'prostate gland' you basically get 'fisted' they shove their hand up your bottom and have a feel of your prostate that way

Now now tommy, stop trying to frighten the owd men.
The doctor will use one finger as you probably know.
If he tries to get his hand up he will get a clout.

I've had two prostate biopsies and a finger up the bum is nothing compares to that.they use a instrument with a camera and cutting equipment. Then whilst watching the monitor work their way round the prostate and take 12 samples for analysis. The procedure takes between 5 to 10 minutes. Both of mine where negative.

My Brother in law was found to have it at an early stage and, They did a operation and, after the op it took a few weeks to recover and during those few weeks he said, " I wish I'd never bothered with it"but, now he's glad he was brave enough to face the monster and beat it, All his functions are working again, he's 75 years old,

* The roadshow begins this week - still time to book an appointment *

A video by the lovely couple Colin & Shaun of Foxes Afloat (a bit explicit):

“Is there a funny side to cancer? We tell the story of Shaun's prostate cancer journey, look at the warning signs of prostate cancer, the facts about prostate cancer symptoms, and the difference between an enlarged prostate and cancer. Find out how prostate cancer is diagnosed, what a PSA test shows, and how Shaun survived cancer.”
